She has won the Brazilian Forró Championship, awards in many national and international festivals, traveled to several countries around the world, has been in many TV shows, dance congresses throughout Brazil and her last conquer was as best forró teacher of Brazil in 2015 and 2016 (by Baila Mundo). Her research in ballroom dances and Brazilian folk dances led her to achieve a multicultural forró dance, without prejudice, after all in her opinion forró is the dance that most express the wiggle and the charme of women. Reaching the 10th year of forró she could see among classes, dancefloors and student’s needs the importance of having a moment to really take care of the followers skills, its “rights and duties”. There are many important topic to practice, learn and develop, from body conscience and dance technics to style, charm and personality without missing/controlling the following skills.

Now she is living in Lyon and is helping to develop even more the forró scene with the association “Forró em Lyon” as their partner, teacher and member.

Was born in Rio de Janeiro and started dancing at the age of 8. He passed by break dance, classical ballet and contemporary dance, until he met ballroom dance at the age of 17, through his great master Maria Antonieta. He has also taken many courses at important dance schools like Deborah Colker and Angel Vianna.

His first contact with forró was at the age of 16 and since then he just dived deeper on the embrace dances. Having lived in different cultures and practiced so many different dances helped him develop a very ecletical way of dance, in which he incorporates different body and dance technics to make a dynamic, fluid and stable dance.

At the age of 18 he founded, together with two other friends the group “Forró nas alturas” dedicated exclusively to forró. He also participated on the group “Forró do Rio”.

Rafael took part as teacher in several festivals around Europe like Ai que bom, Forró Wochenende Freiburg, Alegria do Norte Stockholm, Copenhague Festival, Psiu forró Festival Berlin and gave workshops in more than 30 countries.

He currently travels twice a year, once to Asia and Oceania and once to USA and Canadá, giving workshops, private classes, performing and djing. In Brasil he gives workshops once a year in São Paulo, Salvador and Resende.

He is also the developer of the “Smooth flight method”, the way he found to teach embrace dances, above all forró. Through this method he aims to express all his studies and experiences with embrace dances in order to provide a silent but powerful, light but dynamic dance to the students.
