Born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil, Sampa was influenced in his early childhood by different music styles that rocked the dancefloors in the late eighties. Later on, he would rock those dancefloors himself as a DJ playing rhythms like Samba, Samba-Rock, Rap, Funk & Soul of the early nineties. He first came into contact with Forró in 1997/98, when he frequented São Paulo’s Remelexo club together with his Capoeira group. He moved to Switzerland in 1999 and soon established his reputation in the Latin music scene as DJ Sampa. Studying traditional Forró since 2014, he joined the group Forró Vem Vem in 2015, where he works as a cultural producer and DJs weekly at the „Forró da Quarta“ and monthly at the „Forró Vinyl“ projects. With an impressive vinyl collection on hand, he combines the experience of a professional DJ with his fervent passion for Forró and has been considerably influenced and assisted by renowned DJs like Swingueiro, Ivan and Xeleléu, who transmitted a lot of their knowledge, experience and musical archives to him. Since 2015, DJ Sampa has repeatedly amazed the forrozeiro crowds in various cities all over Switzerland and Europe, such as Milan, Munich, Freiburg, Paris or Lisbon.

In his forró’s sets he plays the classic songs (Luiz Gonzaga/Os 3 do Nordeste) and also the modern one (Ó do Forró/Bicho de Pé), intercalating xotes and baiões in the right timing to keep the dance floor warm and nobody stay still.
He has been the DJ of hundreds of Ballroom and Forró events around Brasil, and his fisrt participation as a DJ in a European Festival was in Aachen Forró Festival 2016, in Germany, in which he received dozens of compliments.
Rafael Baere is involved with the Forró music since 1998. Like pretty much everyone in his generation, he has gotten in touch with it through Falamansa and Rastapé, two famous bands who helped promoting Forró among students and young people in the southeast of Brazil.
It was through these bands that he went after the origins, looking for the very source of the Forró music and culture. There he found the classics Luiz Gonzaga, Jackson do Pandeiro, João do Vale, Marinês and many others. Falling in love with the classical Forró never made him forgot who presented him this genre and be grateful for that.
Being a DJ means to him to show this kaleidoscope that Forró is, with many different ways of playing and presenting the music. He loves playing the classics, using the instrumental ones and the generation that built the bridge to connect Forró with the new generation.
Attentive to the dance floor and to the dancers, he tries to flow and play with the people, presenting all the generations with the best each one can offer and making people dance and live special moments on the dance floor.
